-lots of flooding in 1913
-they kept the bridge across Wabash from falling into river
-named a bunch of people who helped during flooding

06:05 Easter was last Sunday. How kids spent their time in old days
-Ice skating, fishing thru ice, travel to Fort Knox, 7 mile island, gamecock fights (popular in Vincennes)
-meeting with old friends to talk about old days
07:20 -old group went to ??? Church… used to be site of gas street lamps. Can remember guy on horseback at dusk going to light the gas lamps. The sycamore trees are still there, most of old time neighbors are gone.. We don’t remember the Cadillacs, Fords, Dodges, etc. but beautiful homes and barns, same sidewalk

10:02 Susie was our first gal. 18 years old, still having growing pains
Susie agreed to go to Saturday dance… across from Fire Dept.
Wash the buggy & got Bess, beautiful bay mare, combed her
-asked Bess if he should ask Susie for a goodnight kiss
-driving Susie in buggy to dance… lots of detail of places and people
12:12 Bess is a smart horse. Susie and I danced every dance, then we took her home
12:44 Bess stopped about 5 blocks from Susie’s house, good old horse sense
We sang at the top of our lungs…barbership quartet..
13:25 named songs they sang
Put Bess in barn and gave her extra hay
14:12 youngsters today don’t understand that era.. can’t rub the nose of automobile
We were born at the right time, youngsters today will never know

15:20 comparing horse to automobile
The horse lived for you instead of you living for the horse
