Cindy Ward, the 2015 recipient of the Indiana Broadcasters' Association Lifetime Achievement Award, spent 40 years in broadcast journalism. She had her first break in news broadcasting in the late 1970's in Seacoast, Indiana, where she covered topics such as weather, sports updates and gas prices. Ward paved the way for future women broadcasters in the field by willing to do anything for her role. She eventually got a job as an anchor in Lexington, Kentucky, and then moved on to Louisville. In 1986 she moved to South Bend to work at WSBT 22. She became known as a mentor in the field to starting journalists and was honored with the State of Indiana Council of the Sagamores of the Wabash award by former Indiana Governor Mitchell Daniels.
Ward was inducted to Indiana Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame in 2015.
