Indiana Broadcast History Archive

Jim Freeman had more than 40 years in broadcasting in his home town of South Bend, Indiana. After obtaining a marketing degree in 1957 from Indiana University, he began his broadcast career at WSBT-TV as a salesman. Freeman worked several different roles while at WSBT-TV until becoming its president and general manager in 1989. He then became the senior vice president of broadcast for Schurz Communications, Inc. Freeman died in 2008 at the age of 74.

Jim Freeman was inducted into the Indiana Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame in 2009.
