Don Hewitt is best known as the creator and producer of CBS's "60 Minutes," the most successful program in American television history. 20 years before the launch of "60 Minutes," Hewitt was one of the first network newscast directors in history, starting with CBS-TV in 1948. Mike Conway interviewed Hewitt as part of Conway's "The Visualizers" history project on the early years of American television news. Jim Wrocklage was the videographer. The interview was done in Hewitt's "60 Minutes" office on West 57th Street in Manhattan, New York City.
