Karachi Street Sounds Qureshi Interview on Fertilizers For Pakistan

There seems to be more B-roll audio with the clips of street noise. The second clip is a series of interviews with locals talking about agriculture, health care and the Vietnam war. 

Section 1 
0:00: city sounds including cars and people talking 

0:45: lots of cars passing by very loudly 

01:45: group of people speaking in a different language, some yelling and singing 

02:15: sounds like a cut in the audio or a glitch 

03:25: cut to another scene, back to people talking loudly in another language 

03:45 another cut?, more conversation and lots of yelling 

04:25 audio dies down and is more quiet 

04:50: english speakers but can’t make out what they are saying, bell ringing, distant yelling 

Section 2 

0:00: Caldwell ask a question to Qureshi about Mexican seed import 

0:38: higher yield per acre from Mexican seed import?, Qureshi agrees and talks more about growing crops on a large scale, in 3 years will be self-sufficient for wheat and could grow more crops, mentions fertilizer 

00:38: “This will mean, I assume” 

1:42: “Which will be a very great benefit to us” 

With so much talk about the economy, this interview gives a more local, intimate look at how India’s economy is growing.  

01:46: Caldwell asks about crop experimentation,  

02:44: Qureshi said ford foundation support this foundation and gave a grant for this project 

03:10: Qureshi saidprogressie farmers use fertilizer, line-sowing, proper plowing and watering, technology, research dept helping to educate farmers, best farmers attend conventions and take advice,  

04:50: Qureshi said shortage of fertilizer supply, they had 12,500 tons 15 years ago, strong demand for fertilizer, fertilizer factory in east pakistan 

06:55: Qureshi said they are unable to get enough fertilizer in foreign trade, made delivery free in the country? 

07:45: Qureshi said they are going to import about 90 million rubies worth of fertilizer immediately, try to set up more factories and wants to support local production, they want to take advantage of local resources, accepting aid from US 

09:00: Qureshi said they are also receiving aid from canada in the form of fertilizer 

09:21: Caldwell said many people are very interesting while abroad, next interview editor Hank Moress of the Indian Express in New Delhi 

09:55: diff voice starts with a question inspiring conversation about Indian politics, who is this? 

10:38: thing there should two political parties present in politics, said one party was necessary at times, maybe sometime before 1967 based on his comments 

12:14: Mrs. Gandhi is prime minister, they want younger people in government 

*12:50: Narrator/ Caldwell said government men were present at interview, Pakistan is in state of emergency over cashmere dispute, continues about opposition and freedom of expression, facts about major issues in countries 

12:50: “In Pakistan, interviews such as” 

13:51: “The major problem is apathy” 

Caldwell talks about the state of Pakistan and how their government affected them and the press freedom. They also talk about major issue between India and Pakistan. 

13:50: new audio from Alave Labia? talking about government health service, Caldwell is asking questions 

14:45: more narration about hideouts and warfare, Viet- cong? 

15:10: Major William Dismore, first infantry division, interview, talks about warfare 

16:45: previous interviewer asking questions 

17:41: says there are unknown underground tunnels, says Viet-Cong makes things difficult for their troops 

18:41: says this war is different than anything he's ever experienced or prepared for, says the american soldier adapts quickly 

19:58: Caldwell talks again, introduces next speaker 

20:15 interview with Captain Heel Fisher?, they are conducting a search, at the Goghatan bend?, conducting a sweep and informed villagers of the search of their village 

22:20: Caldwell is the interviewer 

23:10: there might be a vietnamese military post at searched village 

23:36: closing statement about the country, says he understands the people of the countries more, Caldwell signs off 

23:31 to end: “India, Pakistan, Vietnam” 

This clip is helpful to know where he has gone and wraps things up nicely.
