(Notes by Blake Spillers, J450 Broadcast Media Analysis, Spring 2022)
This video was about a quick interview that Howard Caldwell had with Jerry Van Dyke. It was a very friendly interview and they focused mainly on the show that Jerry was in at the time called “Coach”.
0:01: video starts right away with a close up on Howard Caldwell talking about Jerry Van Dyke.
0:05: video zooms out to show both Caldwell and Jerry sitting down next to each other starting with friendly banter.
0:21: They start talking about who Jerry is with at the Starlight Show. Caldwell says the wrong person, and Jerry corrects him. They have a conversation about when Jerry is gonna be there and when Mitsy is going to be there.
1:25: Howard brings up that Jerry is on the show “Coach” and they talk about how much Jerry enjoys doing it. They talk about the show being a “replacement”.
2:21: They bring up an old show of Jerry's “My Mother the car”(maybe the name of the show). They have a light hearted conversation and Jerry talks about if you do something so poorly people will remember it.
2:21 Incue “It’s a long way”
2:41 Outcue “The wrong people in charge”
I enjoyed this short moment because this was something that didn’t seem planned but because these two have such good chemistry they were able to have this sort of funny conversation about an old show of Jerry’s that wasn’t very good according to himself.
2:42: Howard then goes back to bringing up “Coach” and talking about that show and how it’s a good show.
3:16: Howard brings up Deercreek Music Center and asks Jerry what he is going to perform there. Jerry talks about doing a banjo routine while also doing his comedy.
3:42: Howard ends the conversation and sends it back to the other anchor Barbara.
3:45: video goes to Barbara for a very quick second and then the screen goes to black as the video ends.
