Synopsis: This special program showcases the WRTV Channel 6 coverage of an annual “Antique Auto Tour.” In this broadcast, Howard Caldwell and a few other reporters follow along with the tour through the course of two days, showing various clips of the cars driving between and parked at their stops in different cities, interviewing the people that come out to the shows and narrating the histories of these towns throughout Indiana. 

 

00:00 – video begins, in color and Caldwell narrating program about antique car gathering with music being played, a few groups of people are recorded talking to each other 

*01:17 – Caldwell introduces report on home for at-risk youth, reporter talks about day-to-day operations and how children are cared for, says this home is a special stop on the “WRTV-6 Antique Auto Tour,” Channel 6 is following it along the way 

02:50 – different clips of cars driving between destinations are shown 

*03:24 – people are interviewed while strolling through the streets of Rushville and looking at cars, close-ups of different cars shown 

05:05 – coincidentally (or maybe not) ads about motor oil and “modern” cars are shown during program break 

07:29 – next stop on tour is Batesville, Caldwell narrates about town’s German history and more clips of automotive fans are shown at this stop of tour 

*09:32 – Greensburg next on tour, reporter talks about its history and coverage is shown of eating contest and other events, video clips of people walking around and checking out cars are shown, other people explain history behind the antique cars they’ve brought as part of tour 

12:50 – last stop of the day is Columbus, video is shown of tour members at a dinner in evening and  

16:05 – coverage of second day of tour begins, video clips shown as cars drive between destinations and the city of Franklin is next with a history recap by Caldwell 

17:30 – clips shown of people of Franklin being interviewed about the tour 

19:00 – reporter narrates about history of Shelbyville, the last stop of second day, with band playing as tour cars stop for the show, and people explain their history with the cars they’ve brought

Caldwell narrates about tour coming back home to Indianapolis, when they’re back him and other reporter named Kevin stand on-site and share their thoughts in a conversation about what they saw on the tour. Exemplifies the connection the station has made with different communities/people.

25:00 OC: “We’ll have to figure out where we’re headed next year, but I’m sure we’ll be along.”
