Howard Caldwell talks about the hoops he had to jump through to get the interview with Indira Gandhi. It was put together rather quickly and wasn’t a sure thing.

00:00: Caldwell talking about his interview with India prime minister 

*00:20: her private secretary, Mr. Kapor, made the appointment and wanted to meet him at public event while Gandhi was speaking 

00:02: “Mrs. Gandhi’s assistant” 

00:38: “Public meeting held outside.” 

He talks about how it all came together and was the first newsman to interview her on television.  

00:55: Gandhi started speaking and they spoke with Kapor but they did not yet get the interview 

01:00: they called a bit later at 7 p.m. and got the interview being told to come over as fast as they could 

01:20: they went over immediately and interviewed for 30 minutes 

01:27: Caldwell talks about this broadcast and says he is in Bombay, India
