Durward Kirby’s family moved to Indianapolis when he was 15. He began broadcasting at WBAA, Purdue University. Later started at WFBM Radio, Indianapolis, with the early-morning “Chuck Wagon Show,” and then to WLW Radio, Cincinnati, and NBC in Chicago. He tried his hand at everything, from disc jockey to coverage of a political convention. He served as one of the hosts on the “Quiz Kids” program from Chicago.
