Tom Hamilton
Tom Hamilton arrived in South Bend in 1955 as sales manager in the start up of WNDU-TV. He arrived with 17 years advertising experience in New York radio and TV. Interestingly, he is credited with the famous soft drink jingle “Pepsi-Cola hits the spot…twelve full ounces, that’s a lot, and all for a nickle, too.” Hamilton remained with WNDU for more than 25 years, advancing to vice president and general manager of Michiana Telecasting Corp, parent of WNDU Radio and TV. He was inducted into the Indiana Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame in 1983, and died July 16, 1989, in South Bend.
